Many alarm clocks we reviewed offer features such as soothing nature sounds or gradual wake up timers, which are always a plus because the feeling of being scared awake doesn't seem appealing. This alarm doesn't offer these extras; however, if you are a deep sleeper who has trouble waking up you'll be glad to know the Sonic Bomb alarm clock from Sonic Alert is the type of clock that will always give you trouble when you try to ignore it.

The effectiveness of this alarm clock is the best. If you think you won't wake up in the morning after setting the Sonic Bomb, think again. The clock offers an alarm that can be set to 113 decibels. There is, however, an alarm control so you can adjust the tone and volume just a bit (since 113 decibels might actually put you back into a coma). And if a loud noise doesn't work to get you out of bed, there are flashing lights on the front of the clock that are very powerful in a dark room. The Sonic Bomb can wake up any deep sleeper, and it is also useful for anyone with a hearing or visual impairment that makes standard alarm clocks less useable.

In addition to the lights and the loud noises, this clock comes with a Super Shaker, an additional unit that is attached to the clock and shakes and vibrates when the alarm goes off. Since the SuperShaker has a six-foot cord, you can place it under your pillow or your mattress. The powerful vibrations will pull you out of sleep just as easily as the alarm will.
When you first set the clock up, one thing to notice is the dual power capacity. This clock is meant to be friendly to both European and U.S. users. You can switch between 110 or 220 volts simply by flipping a switch on the back of the clock.

The clock does offer much to those who have trouble waking up, but that is the extent of its design. The buttons used to set the alarm and the time are located on the front of the clock. The buttons set back far enough from the front of the clock that pushing the button with one hand will cause the clock to slide. The display has only two settings, and even on the lowest setting, the brightness is a tad bit overwhelming, so turning the clock away from you may be the only solution if you're bothered by lights in your sleeping area. There are no additional alarms or sounds to wake up to, and there is no radio. This clock serves one purpose, and that is to get you out of bed.

Sonic Alert offers one-year Sonic Alert blast-proof warranty. This comes with standard replacement of the product should it break down or if the alarm or shaker dies. You can contact Sonic Alert by calling their support number or by submitting a question or comment on the comment page on their website.

Summary:

If you are looking for something to gradually wake you with the soothing sounds of a rain forest, the Sonic Bomb alarm clock is not it. This clock serves its overall purpose of simply waking you up, period. While this alarm clock doesn't have some of the extra convenience and design features of its competitors, its loud volume, flashing lights and Super Shaker bed vibrator are great for making sure you are wide awake in the morning.
